Divisions

  • Civil

    To assist litigants with Civil actions, the Court has important information contained within the  Local Rules of Court.

  • Criminal

    The Criminal Division handles Criminal Misdemeanor and Felony matters for the entire county, as well as specified Penal Code Infraction matters.

  • Family Law

    Family Law Courts hear cases involving divorce, nullity, legal separation, summary dissolution, and paternity, including related issues of spousal support, child support, child custody and visitation, and community property.  

  • Family Court Services and Mediation

    California law states that in all child custody and visitation cases where the parties have been unable to reach an agreement on a parenting plan, the case is required to be sent for mediation.

  • Juvenile

    The Juvenile Division located at the Butte County Courthouse facility (One Court Street, Oroville) handles Juvenile matters including Adoptions, Dependency, and Delinquency for the entire county.

  • Traffic

    The Traffic Division handles Adult and Juvenile traffic citations and other infractions.
